Coventry Be Inventive

Be Inventive 3 Multimedia StudentsWith the launch of the new plans for the redevelopment of the City, Coventry City Council and CVOne asked us to organise a series of days to engage with young people and get their ideas on how they would promote the city. Coupled with this they would learn about the heritage of the city and produce some multimedia output, such as a short film, radio podcast, flyers and posters.

The Progressive Methodology is to work on real challenges with real business professionals – bringing the current leaders together with the future leaders.

We organised a series of days, with students invited from each school in Coventry. The most recent day involved young people from Bablake, Coundon Court, Henry VIII, Sherbourne Fields and Finham Park Schools working together on a variety of marketing and multimedia tasks to give their input on the plans for the exciting new City.

They were joined by high-profile guests from the City who shared their skills and experience. with the students. These included John McGuigan, Director of City Development and Acting Chief Executive; Councillor Kevin Foster, Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council; Ian Moore, Director of Development at Coventry University.

The students were tasked with developing their ideas to create flyers, posters, billboards, TV adverts and radio podcasts; all brought to life by our trainers.

Lauren from Bablake School said, “It was quite challenging, especially to work with people that I’ve never met before but it was really fun and I learned a lot. Chris from Bablake said it was “excellent, engaging and real!”. Oliver from King Henry VIII said it was “helpful, informative, and interesting”.

We had a great time working with these future leaders and were really impressed with the inventive ideas they developed whilst working with the city’s current leaders.
