To produce a new home on the internet for the Broad Horizons Enterprise Centre, which has a role to develop enterprise skills in young people, to encourage and develop business start-ups, and to support local businesses and the community.
The new site had to appeal to both the business and youth community, support updating of the content via a Content Management System, advertise up and coming events, provide access to galleries of events, and also allow rooms/facilities to be viewed and booked by website visitors.
Our Solution

The main objective was to create a site which reflected the level of activity at the Centre, and because of the diverse target audience it was important that everyone was catered for as soon as they came to the site.
We therefore designed a busy home page which highlighted the immediate two next events, showed recent news and events together with a gallery of images from recent events at the Centre. It also brought highlighted key sponsors and job
vacancies.
Our Content Management System (CMS) is developed in-house so it was easy for us to add in the functionality for businesses to book meeting facilities at the centre. Although a bespoke requirement, it’s a testimony to our CMS that all of the room details, booking rates and photos in different layouts are still managed through the CMS itself.
The CMS is designed around being easy to use but giving control where it’s needed. For the events, images are uploaded at high resolution from a digital camera – it’s the CMS which scales them down to web-friendly sizes without the user of the CMS having to worry about it.
